An authentic, committed voice

Mitsou Gélinas

Since 2006, Mitsou Gélinas has been passionately involved as a volunteer spokeswoman for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation. Her motivation stems from a life-changing personal experience, when she lost a dear friend, Monique, to the disease. Since then, Mitsou’s awareness of breast cancer has grown, and she readily agreed to become the face of the Foundation, carrying the stories and hopes of all those affected by the disease, as well as their loved ones. For almost 20 years now, she has been fully committed to the Foundation’s awareness campaigns, providing support, listening and advice to those affected who confide in her, and actively participating in the Foundation’s events, spreading its messages and mission, and helping to increase its impact across the province.

“I’m very grateful and privileged to be the spokeswoman for the FCSQ. Over all these years of collaboration, I have had the privilege of making touching, inspiring and enriching encounters with people touched by breast cancer, their loved ones, healthcare professionals and the Foundation’s wonderful team. Every day, I am nourished and inhabited by the determination to make a difference.”

A voice of resilience and determination

Catherine Verdon-Diamond

Catherine Verdon-Diamond embodies strength, resilience and determination as spokeswoman for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation since 2023. Having personally gone through part of the screening process when she had a non-cancerous tumor in her breast a few years ago, Catherine chose to lend her voice to the Foundation out of solidarity for all those going through the anxiety and feelings of helplessness that come with waiting for a diagnosis. Her personal experience has also been marked by the shadow of illness since the death of her mother-in-law from breast cancer at the age of 49, and by the current experience of her sister who is currently battling the same disease.

“It is with deep gratitude that I have joined this dynamic team and committed myself to this cause that is so close to my heart. My journey, punctuated by hardships and glimmers of hope, gives me the opportunity to share my story and, above all, to listen to and resonate with the stories of others. As a black woman, I also feel a special responsibility to raise awareness, educate and support the fight against this disease within my community.”
