Project

Fédération québécoise des massothérapeutes

Enhance the availability of affordable oncology massotherapy for women with breast cancer in various regions of Quebec.

Description

The Fondation québécoise des massothérapeutes is already offering massotherapy care through the five shelters of the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation (Montréal, Québec, Trois-Rivières, Gatineau and Sherbrooke). Right now it plans to extend this massotherapy care by offering an additional 600 massages, 200 at the shelters of the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation, and 400 in the regions of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Laurentians and the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean

The main purpose of this care is to give some breathing space to anyone affected by cancer. Care is provided by licensed massotherapists specially trained to give a massage adapted to each person’s state of health.

Oncology massotherapy is a complementary approach, adapted to the client’s state of health, the type of cancer, the stage of the disease, as well as the treatment undergone. Massotherapy provides mental as well as physical relaxation.
