Have you noticed an abnormal change in your breasts? Are you feeling anxious while waiting for or following the results of medical tests? Have you just been diagnosed with breast cancer or do you have a loved one living with this disease?
Don’t let your doubts or questions fester. The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation is here to support and guide you.
Whatever stage you’re at, call or write to us to get reliable answers to your questions. Someone who has been through the breast cancer journey will listen and provide you with the support you need.
Are you a family member or close friend? The Foundation will also help you cope with the stress and fear that follow a diagnosis. We can help you provide the right support for a loved one with breast cancer.
We’re not just here when you’re diagnosed. We’re here always, to answer any questions about breast cancer.
Talk to someone you can trust who understands you and can provide reliable answers to your questions.
Whatever questions you may have about the disease, at the other end of the line our trained peer supporter with first-hand experience will listen to you, take the time to inform you, help you navigate the healthcare system, and guide you to the resources best suited to your needs.
A peer supporter is a person who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. They use their experience and knowledge to support people affected by the disease. The peer supporters who answer callers to the Helpline receive professional training from the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
Peer supporters offer active listening, guide callers through the healthcare system, refer them to appropriate resources, and provide general information about breast cancer, but this does not replace the advice of a health professional.
To talk to someone else who has been through this, you can join one of our online support communities: the Parlons cancer du sein and Club stade 4 private Facebook groups.
The peer supporters who answer the Helpline are located in the various regions of Quebec: Outaouais, Estrie, Montérégie, Montreal and Laval. The Helpline answers calls from all over Quebec.
Have you been diagnosed with breast cancer and want to get involved as a peer supporter? You can fill in the Volunteer application form.
