The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation would like to remind its donors, partners and everyone who has supported and participated in the Foundation’s activities for the past two decades that the Foundation’s status remains unchanged. The Foundation continues to be an independent charitable organization that fights breast cancer across Quebec. The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation is proud to be a leader and the only organization in Quebec entirely devoted to the fight against breast cancer.

Therefore, the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation will not be impacted by the future merger of the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, which was announced on February 3, 2017. The two organizations plan to join forces under the Canadian Cancer Society banner. The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation will partner with the Canadian Cancer Society in organizing the 2017 CIBC Run for the Cure.

Ever since its creation, the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation has reinvested 100% of all funds raised in Quebec. The Foundation works tirelessly to help women affected by breast cancer and their loved ones across Quebec by investing in research, innovation, education programs, support services, financial aid programs and awareness campaigns. The Foundation works closely with Quebec’s medical and scientific communities, with the aim of making the latest treatment available to those affected by breast cancer in Quebec, thus improving their survival rate. We are dedicated to accomplishing this mission.

The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation reacts to changes in the field and always makes decisions that prioritize the interests of those affected by breast cancer in Quebec. The Foundation is not faced with the same financial stakes as the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Thanks to attention to best practices across the board and sound financial management, the Foundation’s combined administrative costs and fundraising costs are enviably low. “We intend to continue in this manner. The women of Quebec count on us to operate in their best interests and fight against breast cancer,” stated Nathalie Tremblay, Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer.

The Foundation has always valued partnerships and is proud of the impact of its collaboration with large organizations such as the FRQ (Fonds de recherche du Québec-Santé), the DGC (Direction générale de cancérologie), the CQDM (Conseil québécois du développement du médicament), MEDTEQ, large hospital centres and their foundations (CHUM, McGill University Health Centre, Jewish General Hospital, CHU de Québec, Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne, the Cedars Cancer Foundation, and several other regional hospitals). We are also proud to partner with health services and breast cancer services foundations and organizations for specific projects, joint research funding, innovative technology and advanced care projects, support services for those with a genetic family history of breast cancer, and other vital joint ventures.

Our whole-hearted commitment to advancing the fight against breast cancer in Quebec is more relevant than ever.
